The possibilities
- Point with your mouse to the icons
of the project window. Their function is shown in the status bar on the bottom
of the LinLocalize window.
- You can review the project properties
by selecting the language, either source or destination language, and click
on the properties icon or choose in the menu Stringlist | Properties. Please
be aware that menu content changes, dependent on the windows that are opened
and the object that has the focus.
- Double click on the source language
to extract the strings from the executable. To reach the same goal, you may
also open the local menu (right mouse click) and select Create/Update Stringlist
or choose in the main menu Stringlist | Create/Update Stringlist.
- The Sourcelist window is opened.
- Double Click on the destination
language to open the Translation list window of that language.
- Now maximalize the Linlocalize
window to fill the whole screen.
- Choose Window | Tile from the
main menu.
- Maximalize the Translation list
window.
- Choose Tools | Glossaries from
the main menu to open the Global Glossaries window.
- Here you'll find the translation
glossaries with the available translation strings. These .glo files are common
text files. If your language is not available you may first want to import
strings. We will explain later. These global glossaries are used to translate
your strings automatically.
- Press Ok to close the Global Glossaries
window.
- Select Window | Tile to show all
windows: Project window, Source List window and Translation List window(s).
Linux support
Although LinLocalize was specifically
created for Linux Localization, LinLocalize for Windows does not support
Linux resources. Theoretically, it would be possible to use LinLocalize for
Windows for the extraction and creation of Linux resources, but it would need
a resbind executable for Linux resources which would run in the MSWindows environment.
The practical usefulness of this scheme seems limited. So, LinLocalize for Windows
does not support Linux.
LinLocalize 1.3 is specifically suited
for Linux. Obtain the executable and source of LinLocalize 1.3 at http://linlocalize.sourceforge.net/.
